28-Year-Old Dies in Las Vegas Motorcycle Accident

On the eve of Thanksgiving, a 28-year-old Las Vegas motorcyclist was riding north on Centennial Center Boulevard in a 2011 Yamaha R1. Either defective parts or unsafe road conditions led to a loss of control just south of Azure Drive. The R1 swerved to the right and collided with a palm tree, killing the rider.

This was the 98th death involving a vehicle of 2013 in Las Vegas. Motorcycle accident fatalities have been on the rise. Last year, only 16 individuals died between the months of January and October. In 2013, there were 20 motorcycle accident fatalities in the 10-month period. Compared to 2011, which only had 13, the increase appears to be a growing trend. A local commented, “At this rapid pace, sooner or later, we’re going to run out of motorcyclists in Vegas.”
