5 Teens Killed in Memorial Day Car Accident

It has become a sad expectation that there will be an increase in car accidents during Memorial Day weekend. It becomes even more tragic when five high school students lose their lives and add to a growing statistic of fatal car accidents on Memorial Day. Five high school friends were on their way to the beach to enjoy their Memorial Day off when they crashed into a tree in Irvine, California.

The officers who reported to the scene believed speeding was a factor in the crash. The Infiniti Sedan apparently veered off the road and hit a tree head-on. Due to the high rate of speed, the car split in half and caught fire. Four of the teens were ejected from the car and killed on impact, the other was rushed to the hospital but later died.

Tragically, accidents on holidays increase because of the increased traffic on the road, which is why it is imperative people take the proper precautions when taking to the road. However, accidents do occur even when you are obeying all the traffic laws. Distracted driving and drunk drivers are a major threat to other people and themselves.
