Amarillo Motorcyclists Hold Benefit for Hit-And-Run Victim

The Amarillo motorcycling community came together to hold a benefit to help a motorcycle accident victim pay for his medical bills, according to The event, called Strive for Clive, was held on August 4 and featured groups of bikers taking part in a poker run as well as lunch, live music and a silent auction at 6th Street Saloon.

Back in June, Clive Weaver, 37, was riding his 2006 Honda Rebel west on West 10th Avenue, when, according to the Amarillo Globe-News, he was struck by a gold-colored car at the South Jefferson Street intersection. The car fled the scene. Seriously injured, Weaver had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. Due to the severity of his injuries, he ended up losing one of his legs from the knee down.

“We are really blessed to still have Clive with us. He lost a little, but he’s here and that’s what counts,” said Michelle Nemoede, a friend of Clive.

All the support has really touched Clive, who was able to show some of his appreciation by greeting bikers as they signed up for Strive for Clive at Tripp’s Harley Davidson.

“I don’t know what to say. I’ve never seen so many people come together for a guy they didn’t know to help him out,” said Clive. “I’m really humbled by it all.”

It is wonderful that Clive is receiving this kind of support. However, the fact is that the driver responsible for his injuries should be the one paying.
