A Colusa woman is dead after the motorcycle on which she was a passenger collided with an SUV.
Naome “Lynn” Sevigny and her husband, Dale, were travelling west on Highway 70 towards the intersection at Pentz Road. Dale was driving and Lynn was riding behind him. At the Pentz Road intersection, a Jeep Liberty driven by Sharol Robinson, 52, pulled out in front of them while turning left from Pentz Road onto Highway 70.
Apparently, the passenger in the SUV, Michael Morris, noticed the motorcycle and yelled to Robinson. Robinson stopped in the intersection and the Sevignys hit the front left fender of the SUV. Both riders were ejected from the bike and landed about 30 feet away.
This incident is just one of many where drivers turn into the path of a motorcycle, jeopardizing the lives of the riders. In this instance one rider died the status of the other rider is unclear. Both occupants in the SUV were not injured. There is no word on whether the driver will be charged or if the accident is under investigation.
