Just before 11:30 p.m. on June 7, two teens were involved in a fatal car accident in north Cheyenne, Wyoming, according to the Billings Gazette. They were headed north on Warren Avenue, near Lions Park, when a 17-year-old driver lost control of a vehicle and crashed into a tree. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries while the 16-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that the driver was speeding at the time of the accident.
It is unfortunate when accidents happen to anyone, but it is especially tragic when it involves people so young. Sadly, however, teen drivers are often involved in car accidents. Teen drivers lack the experience behind the wheel and maturity of older drivers, and it can lead to them taking ill-advised risks, such as speeding and falling prey to distractions while driving.
Accidents happen whether drivers are distracted or not and whether they are driving with caution or not. However, a careless or distracted driver is still a hazard to themselves and others on the road. If you have been the victim of a car accident caused by another driver, you may be owed compensation.
