A star player for a Nebraska volleyball team has been suspended after police arrested her on suspicion of leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Police say Lauren Cook was driving her SUV with a suspended license when she clipped a motorcycle on the side of the road, breaking the driver’s leg and injuring his passenger. She then fled the scene, calling 911 eight minutes later, telling police she had ran away because she was “scared”. Police found her about a half-mile away with her tire shredded from the accident.
Her team has matches on Friday and Saturday, but Coach John Cook, her father, says her return depends on how her legal case turns out. She is allowed to keep practicing with the team, which is currently ranked number two.
It is unfortunate to see behavior like this in such a young driver. Running from the scene of an accident is never a good idea. It only makes your situation worse when you finally are caught.
