June 28 will be the first “Breaking Silence Benefit and Poker Run for Exploited and Trafficked Children”, a motorcycle rally to raise funds and promote awareness about the dangers of human trafficking.
Hosted by Tania Riedel and Frank Serrano, the event was designed to “bring awareness to [the] community about local sex trafficking and child exploitation”. All proceeds benefit Sarah’s Home and the U Count Campaign, organizations dedicated to stopping human trafficking.
Last year, the FBI’s Rocky Mountain Innocence Lost Task force rescued 59 child prostitutes in the state of Colorado. The two hope that by educating communities, they can help Colorado residents be aware of exploited children close to home.
The event kicks off at 10 a.m., and everything starts and ends at the Hideout Patio Restaurant and Bar. There is a $10 registration fee, and $5 for additional riders. The winning poker hands receive cash prizes from $250 to $1000.
The ride ends with a live band, food and drinks, and all proceeds benefit nonprofits.
