Bridge Debris Causes Motorcycle Accident

Determining liability in a motorcycle accident can be difficult, especially when the accident involves many different parties. An accident that took place in Commerce City is the perfect example.

A semi-truck, a Dodge Ram and a motorcycle were heading north on U.S. Highway 85 towards a bridge. Before the semi-truck passed under it, a large piece of metal fell from the bridge. The semi braked hard to avoid hitting the debris, and the Ram followed suit.

The motorcycle was not able to stop in time and crashed into the back of the pickup truck. The biker was rushed to a hospital. News outlets did not publish the biker’s name or current condition.

The Colorado Department of Transportation and Burlington Northern Railroad, the bridge’s owner, are performing an inspection of the bridge to determine its structural integrity.

In this case, multiple parties could hold responsibility for the motorcycle accident. The city, state and bridge owners might be liable, along with any of the drivers involved.
