Two adults and three children were injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash north of Pueblo on Sunday, June 12, 2011.
The accident happened at about 3:57 p.m. on I-25 north at exit 106, one mile south of the I-25 Speedway.
The Honda SUV rolled off the right side of the road and into a ditch before it vaulted into the air, rolled several times and came to rest on the driver’s side.
Emergency responders extricated a 14-year-old boy, a 9-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy as well as two adults from the vehicle. All of the vehicle’s occupants were taken to Parkview Medical Center where the youngest boy was listed in critical condition.
Police have not released the names of the victims or their relation to each other and they are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
“We don’t know if the driver was distracted or what,” said Sgt. Luke Armstrong of the Colorado State Patrol, “because according to witnesses, there are no other vehicles involved.”
Several people had stopped to give aid to the victims before emergency personnel arrived.
“We had a lot of good people stop and help those people,” Armstrong said.
