Colorado has become the host of two major motorcycle events honoring veterans. In Battlement Mesa, a group of riders passed through as part of a 2,500-mile journey honoring two dozen soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The trip is taking the riders through Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and South Dakota. With them, the riders are carrying the Fallen Soldiers Memorial Flame. According to one of the riders participating in the event, the flame represents “the soldier’s eternal spirit and love of country”.
Veterans Rally Motorcycle Event To Honor Fallen Soldiers
In Cripple Creek, Colorado, riders are gathering for the 2015 Veterans Rally. The event features two remembrance ceremonies for prisoners of war and soldiers missing in action. To remember those who never came back home, the Veterans Rally will host a ceremony in their honor in Cripple Creek’s City Park and at the Cripple Creek War Memorial. During the ceremonial event, the names of fallen soldiers from the area will be read aloud.
In addition to remembering missing and captured soldiers, the event will feature a recognition ride to honor veterans. Riders will depart from Woodland Park High School under police escort and enjoy a journey through the beautiful mountains present throughout the area.
Colorado Law Tigers was proud to be a sponsor of this event. Many active duty members of the military and veterans are riders, and it is important to return the favor and serve them in their time of need. In 2013, the Department of Defense noted motorcycle accidents were a leading cause of death among U.S. service members who were not deployed.
