Curve Missed In The Dark Kills Rider

Driving is never a completely safe activity, whether in a car or on a motorcycle. Increased awareness is especially necessary at night, where visibility goes down drastically.

In a fatal accident last week, a Lexington, Nebraska, man missed a curve while riding his motorcycle at night and flew off the road. The motorcycle rolled and tumbled before coming to rest in a field off the side of the highway.

Someone driving by on the road later saw the motorcycle’s light and contacted the authorities, but it was too late to save the man’s life.

This man’s death is an important reminder of the dangers of riding at night. Most people do not consider riding only during the day to be realistic, but it is worth remembering that riding at night requires increased diligence. Even curves you know well can become something surprising when the sun goes down.
