According to KGWN, an older woman was killed when the car she was driving was struck by a car drag racing on a public street in Colorado Springs, Colorado on June 23. The race driver who struck the woman also died. The driver of the car he was racing fled the scene.
The Colorado Springs police are still investigating the incident and are trying to find the driver who fled. Police have pieced together so far that the collision occurred when one of the race drivers lost control of his vehicle and hit the woman’s car, which was headed eastbound at the time. The woman was killed instantly, and the race driver was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Incidents such as this are especially unfortunate, not only because of the loss of life, which is tragic in and of itself, but because of how senseless it all was. The actions of these race drivers were extremely selfish. Their recklessness led to a fatal car accident that took one of their lives and the life of an innocent bystander. While this is an extreme example of driver negligence, everyday incidents, such as distracted driving, can end just as tragically and are a lot more likely to occur. You don’t have to suffer because of the negligence of the driver who caused your accident. You may be entitled to compensation.
