Drunk Driver Rolls Over With Child in Vehicle

What do you get when you mix alcohol, an SUV and mid-day traffic? A rollover crash plus two additional accidents and three injuries.

At least, that’s what happened around noon on July 25, 2011. Twenty-three-year-old Brandi Moon was driving her SUV erratically along Interstate 25. She was driving so erratically that the Colorado State Patrol got several calls reporting her just before she flipped her vehicle multiple times and triggered a chain reaction that caused two more accidents.

She was also under the influence and had a child with her in the car. Brandi was injured and taken to the hospital where she is currently listed in “good” condition. Another individual was injured in one of the chain reaction accidents, and his condition is unknown. The child was not injured in the crash.

Both she and the child were wearing seatbelts so Brandi gets some points for remembering to buckle up before cracking open a cold one and taking her child for an afternoon drive.

Brandi has been charged with DUI, DUI per se, having an open container and, child abuse.

And if the drinking and driving and endangering the life of a child weren’t enough, she was also charged with having no proof of insurance, careless driving and not having a valid driver’s license.  It seems like it was only a matter of time before she got into an accident.

Luckily, her child didn’t have to pay the price.
