Escaped Inmate Arrested After Four-Car Wreck in Aurora

Fox 31 in Denver is reporting that Terry Romero, 31, an escaped inmate, was captured after crashing into multiple vehicles on August 6. According to police reports, Romero was a methamphetamine supplier and the possible leader of a large drug ring in Northern Colorado.

Prior to his capture, Romero was wanted in Adam’s County for an escape from felony conviction, had a warrant out for his arrest for escaping from the Department of Corrections and was under surveillance as part of a six-month long investigation into a methamphetamine and cocaine trafficking ring known as “Operation Bad Nickname.”

After receiving a tip, the police attempted a traffic stop to capture Romero, which led to him ramming multiple unmarked police cars and speeding off. As he fled, Romero ran a red light at Peoria Street while he was heading northbound on Parker Road, resulting in a four-car accident in which several people suffered minor injuries, including Romero.

Despite his injuries, Romero continued to flee but on foot this time. He ran away from the accident scene, but was unable to escape authorities. Romero was arrested after a brief struggle with Denver and Aurora police, including some undercover officers.

While it was certainly not your typical car accident, this incident still serves as an excellent reminder that you never know who or what you are going to run into out there on the road. If you or someone you love has been injured due to someone else’s negligence, you deserve justice and may be owed compensation.
