Feminist Icon Mary Thom Dies In Motorcycle Accident

Prominent journalist and feminist movement leader Mary Thom was killed in a motorcycle accident on April 26. Thom, 68, had taken her 1996 Honda Magna 750 for a ride on the Saw Mill River Parkway in New York when she lost control and veered into oncoming traffic, striking a vehicle.

Thom was viewed as a giant in the feminist movement. Helping found the accredited feminist publication Ms. Magazine, she started as an editor and worked her way up to become executive editor.
