Five Killed in SUV, Two-Motorcycle Accident

CBS 5 in Northern Colorado is reporting that four motorcyclists and a SUV passenger were killed in a multi-vehicle accident in Pennsylvania. The fatal motorcycle accident happened on October 19 in the afternoon near the Pennsylvania-Maryland border.

Leading up to the accident, the SUV was traveling northbound on the Fort Ritchie Access Road in the south-central Pennsylvania community of Washington Township, which is not far from Waynesboro. At the same time, two motorcycles carrying four people were headed southbound on Fort Ritchie.

For unknown reasons, as the vehicles converged, the SUV crossed the centerline and crashed into one of the motorcycles. Then after colliding with the first motorcycle, the SUV spun around and was broadsided by the other motorcycle.

The first motorcycle the SUV crashed into carried a 32-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman, and the second motorcycle the SUV collided with carried a 67-year-old man and a 53-year-old woman. All four motorcyclists died from the injuries they sustained in the accident. In addition, a passenger in the SUV, a 68-year-old woman, was also killed as a result of the wreck.

The Washington Township police were still investigating the accident and had released no further information regarding it at the time of this report.

Accidents such as this are a reminder of how little control we can sometimes have out on the road. No matter how good of a driver you are, you cannot control the actions of the other drivers with whom you share the road. Motorcyclists, in particular, often bear the brunt of accidents that are caused by the negligence of other motorists.

Many of our attorneys are motorcyclists themselves, so they understand what it is like out there on the road for motorcyclists. It is a trait that makes them ideally suited to do what they have been doing for years: successfully defend the rights of motorcycle accident victims and their loved ones.
