Gunnison Hosts Annual Adventure Rally: Rockies Edition

In September 2013, the first Adventure Rally was called the Sierra Edition, and it took place in California. This year, the competition was held in the mountains surrounding Gunnison, Colorado, and dubbed the “Rockies Edition.”

The event is designed for adventure bikes, but any motorbike that can operate on a dirt road is allowed to enter. The Adventure Rally is unique, because it allows competitors to choose their own destinations and pace for the race.

Before the race, riders receive a list of locations that have been assigned different point values. Participants have two days to develop their strategy and rack up the highest number of points.

Riders form teams of two, and teams must provide pictures to prove they made it to each location. Both riders or both bikes must be pictured, and the images are uploaded to Instagram with hashtags like #advrally or team names.

Some riders covered as much as 500 miles during the two-day event, visiting natural wonders like mountains and rivers, along with historical sites. A flat registration fee includes a hotel for the weekend, breakfast and dinner, skills tests, t-shirt, stickers and sponsor goodie bag.

The only prizes offered during the competition are bragging rights, tons of photos and a sunny weekend with friends doing what they love.

Nothing unites riders like a spirit of adventure and a common love of motorcycle culture. No one knows that better than Metier Law Firm, who has supported the Colorado motorcycle community for more than 20 years.
