Happy Holidays from Tom Metier and associates. We hope that you have the opportunity to spend the holiday with family and friends. In addition, we advise that you be extra vigilant and watch out for drunk drivers and icy roads.
A recent Clark County crosswalk safety drive used holiday imagery to remind pedestrians and motorists of the safe way to cross a street, according to Fox 5 Vegas. The Clark County school police were dressed in full Santa Claus regalia at 7 a.m. on December 16 at Arbor View High School, Cadwallader Middle School and Cashman Middle School.
Despite their friendly, yuletide appearance, the Santa Claus police will be issuing tickets for jaywalking and failing-to-yield. The fine for the latter is a minimum of $191. Given recent reports on traffic related fatalities in Clark County, a harsh crackdown is necessary. There were only 42 fatal pedestrian accidents in 2012. In 2013, there have already been 46 and the end of the year is one of the most dangerous times to be near a road. Last year there were only 72 traffic related fatalities compared to 106 in 2013.
