Logging Tractor-Trailer Causes Fatal Accident

A logging tractor-trailer killed Claudia Tena de Ramirez of Glenwood Springs, Colorado on August 16 in a horrific trucking accident due to careless driving. According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, the logging truck driver ran a red light at an intersection while driving southbound on Highway 82 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. De Ramirez made a legal left turn in her Jeep onto Highway 82, and the truck driver hit the driver’s side of the vehicle.

De Ramirez wore a seat belt at the time of the accident, but she died at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer, John Briggs of Del Norte, did not incur any injuries. Colorado State Patrol state that alcohol, drugs and speed are not factors in the crash. Instead, the police determined that De Ramirez is a victim of careless driving on the part of the tractor-trailer driver.

Lives change quickly from simple mistakes on the highway, so we must be diligent and careful in paying attention to everyone on the road around us. Though the logging trucker driver most likely did not intend to cause any damages, a quick error in judgment costs a life.
