An early morning hit-and-run accident on September 7 left a moped rider seriously injured, according to The Denver Post. The accident happened at around 6 a.m., at the intersection of York Street and 18th Avenue in Denver.
Leading up to the accident, the moped rider was traveling north on York Street. As the moped rider neared 18th Avenue, the driver of a sedan turned left and crashed into him. After the collision, the car sped away from the scene of the accident.
“Police are looking for the hit-and-run driver, who was driving what the victim described as a green or dark-colored sedan,” said John White, Denver police spokesperson.
The moped rider was taken to the hospital with what were described as serious injuries. The name of the rider had not been released at the time of this report.
Depending on the severity of his injuries, this moped rider could have a long road to recovery ahead, and that could be the best-case scenario. In a worst-case scenario, he may not ever fully recover from his injuries. Serious injuries, such as traumatic brain injuries and spinal cord injuries, are sometimes not conquered and overcome through modern medicine and rehabilitation. In some cases, the victims of catastrophic injuries need specialized medical care for the rest of their lives.
All this from an accident that was not even the moped rider’s fault. The driver of that sedan, like so many other motorists who have caused similar accidents, should be held accountable for all the pain and suffering he or she has caused.
