A motorcyclist is in the hospital after a collision at the intersection of Circle and Fountain, according to Colorado Springs Police. Authorities at the hospital did not release the extent of the rider’s injuries.
Based on reports, the motorcycle was headed north on Circle when an SUV tried to make a U-turn. The Chevrolet Suburban struck the motorcycle and injured the rider. Colorado Springs Police shut down Circle to investigate the incident. As of now, no charges have been filed.
Cars making turns can be extremely hazardous for motorcyclists. Motorists are used to looking for cars when they check their mirrors, and often miss much smaller motorcycles.
What to Do After a Motorcycle Accident
If you are in a motorcycle accident, remembering a few things can ensure that your case is as strong as possible:
- Take notes: Write down everything that you remember about what happened: the weather, the names of everyone present and other important details. This information can be valuable later on.
- Document injuries and losses: If possible, report your injuries to a medical provider and document any doctor or hospital visits. You can also take pictures of the injuries and keep track of any lasting issues.
- Take pictures: If you are unable to document the accident as it happens, you can return to the scene at a later time. Choose a day with similar weather and road conditions. Take pictures from many different angles to give the clearest possible image of what happened.
