Motorcyclist Killed in Wreck Caused by Alleged Drunk Driver

A driver is suspected of DUI prior to an accident with a motorcycle that left the motorcyclist dead, according to ABC 13 in Las Vegas. The fatal motorcycle accident occurred sometime before 3:28 a.m. on October 13 near the intersection of Centennial Parkway and Decatur Road in North Las Vegas.

At that time, according to a preliminary investigation by police, a 2010 Toyota sedan being driven by a 46-year-old man was heading north on Decatur Road. A 2006 Yamaha motorcycle ridden by a 67-year-old man was also traveling in that same direction around that time.

The Toyota sedan crashed into the rear of the Yamaha somewhere around the Centennial Parkway intersection. Police said it did not appear as though the Toyota attempted to brake before colliding with the Yamaha. The 67-year-old died as a result of the wreck. The other driver was not reported to have been injured in the crash.

The 46-year-old remained on the scene after the accident. The authorities found evidence that the wreck was alcohol related. The driver of the Toyota was taken to Las Vegas City Jail and booked for DUI causing death and failure to obey a traffic control device.

Motorcyclists have no control over the actions of their fellow motorists, even when those actions directly impact them. If a driver makes a mistake in a car or truck that causes a motorcycle accident, chances are he or she will walk away from the accident with only non-life-threatening injuries at worst. However, the motorcyclist, who did not cause the accident, may not be so lucky.

As motorcyclists themselves, many of our attorneys understand what it is like out there on the road for motorcyclists. That added understanding makes them ideally suited to do what they have been doing for years, successfully fighting for the rights of motorcycle accident victims and their families.
