An Interstate 15 motorcycle accident has left a motorcyclist dead and a passenger seriously injured, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The accident happened at about 2:45 a.m. on October 27 in the southbound lanes of I-15 in Las Vegas, Nevada near Sahara Avenue. The motorcyclist collided with a vehicle that had spun out of control ahead of him on the highway.
An unsafe lane change by one motorist led to the three-vehicle crash. The unsafe lane change caused a Chevy Tahoe to collide with the median wall and spin around to face northbound in the southbound lanes of I-15.
“A man traveling south on a motorcycle with a female passenger then struck the front of the Tahoe,” Trooper Jeremie Elliot told the Sun.
None of the occupants of the vehicle that allegedly caused the wreck or the Chevy Tahoe was injured.
“The man on the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene, and the female passenger was taken to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition,” Elliot said.
In the aftermath of the wreck, the southbound lanes of I-15 near Sahara Avenue had to be closed for almost eight hours while Nevada Highway Patrol investigated and cleaned up the accident site. As of this report, the investigation is still ongoing.
