An unidentified woman, 25, is dead after attempting to run across northbound Interstate 29. The accident occurred around 4:15 a.m. on the morning of June 8, 2011 at the Tiffany Springs Parkway exit.
The woman was initially hit by one vehicle which stopped. She was then hit by several other vehicles on I-9.
Emergency personnel responded to the accident and closed all northbound lanes of I-29, including the northbound ramp from Barry Road. Police did allow some semi-trucks through the area at 5:30 a.m. but the highway remained closed to other traffic until 6:30 a.m. The driver of the car that initially struck the woman cooperated with the police investigation.
At this time, it is unclear why the woman was running across the highway.
