Two-vehicle Accident on Bypass Injures One

A Pontiac Grand Prix and a Jeep Liberty were involved in a two-vehicle collision in Arkansas City on Tuesday, June 7, 2011.

Dawna Admire, 41, the driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix, was traveling eastbound on the U.S. 77 bypass at Chestnut Avenue and Susan Leaming, the driver of the Jeep Liberty, was traveling southbound when the collision occurred.

Admire sustained injuries and was taken to the South Central Kansas Medical Center Where she was treated and later released. Leaming was not injured in the collision.

At this time it is not clear what caused the accident or which driver was at fault. It is also not clear if both drivers were wearing restraints.

In 2008, there were over 150,000 people involved in traffic accidents in Kansas. Of those, over 20,000 suffered non-fatal injuries, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.
