Country music star Wynonna Judd and her husband, drummer Cactus Moser, were riding separate motorcycles through Rapid City, SD on Saturday, August 18. Moser’s bike drifted over the center line and crashed into the driver side door of an oncoming car. A helicopter took him to a nearby hospital, and doctors had to amputate his leg below the knee.
Judd, who did not sustain injuries in her husband’s motorcycle accident, cancelled several upcoming tour dates. Moser, who drums in her band, also required surgery in his hand.
“The outpouring of prayer and support from friends, family and fans has been a blessing to both Cactus and I. Cactus is a champion. I love him deeply and I will not leave his side,” Judd said in a statement.
Police charged Moser with driving on the wrong side of the road and operating a motorcycle without a license.
We hope that Moser recovers quickly, and that he can continue his music career despite his injuries. Later this week we will discuss common motorcycle injuries, and the risks involved when you bike without a license.
