Frequently Asked Questions

There are many different causes of traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), but some of the most common include:
  • Falls: Falls are the leading cause of TBI, particularly among children and older adults.  We see TBIs from falls in unsafe premises cases, oilfield and industrial injury cases.
  • Motor vehicle accidents: Car, truck, and motorcycle accidents can all lead to TBIs.
  • Blows to the head: This can include physical assaults, sports injuries, and accidental impacts.
  • Combat injuries: Military personnel are at risk of TBIs from explosive blasts and other combat-related injuries.
  • Industrial accidents: Workers in certain industries, such as construction and manufacturing, may be at higher risk of TBIs due to the nature of their work.  Falling equipment and heavy machinery often cause TBIs in these cases.
It's important to note that TBIs can range in severity from mild (also known as a concussion) to severe. Mild TBIs may resolve on their own with proper rest and treatment, while severe TBIs can be life-threatening and may require intensive medical treatment.  Severe TBIs may never fully heal.

Mild or severe, if your TBI wasn't your fault, you need a traumatic brain injury attorney who understands your injury, the treatment and how to win a settlement or vedict to bring the justice you deserve.
Symptoms of a traumatic brain injury (TBI) can vary depending on the severity of the injury and the part of the brain that was injured. Some common symptoms of TBI include:

Physical symptoms: These can include headache, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, seizures, and changes in sleep patterns.

Cognitive symptoms: These can include difficulty thinking, remembering, or concentrating; confusion; and difficulty with communication or problem-solving.

Emotional and behavioral symptoms: These can include mood swings, irritability, anxiety, depression, and changes in personality.

Sensory symptoms: These can include changes in vision, hearing, taste, or smell; sensitivity to light or sound; and a decreased ability to feel touch or pain.

If you or a loved one has experienced a head injury and is experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to seek medical attention as soon as possible. A healthcare professional will be able to assess the severity of the injury and recommend appropriate treatment.
